Tip for Using Seashells for Holiday Decorations

One of the great things about walking up and down the beach is collecting seashells. My whole family loves sorting through and finding the most unique ones and bringing them home. We have a special place where we keep them stored and we’re always looking for unusual ways to use them. This year we’ve decided to use the seashells for holiday decorations.

Did you know that you can make Christmas tree ornaments out of seashells? Not only is it a lot of fun for the whole family but they look beautiful hanging from the tree. They’re easy to make, all you need is a good work area, some seashells, glue, cotton and fishing line.

Some seashells already have holes in them naturally. For these, you can simply run the fishing line through the hole and tie. For the others, you can tie a knot at the end of the fishing line and glue it between two small pieces of cotton. Now, glue the cotton inside the seashell but make sure the fishing line is sticking out on the side that you want to be the top of shell when it’s hanging on the tree.

You can tie fishing line to some of the larger shells and hang them throughout your home as decorations for the holidays. They can be around window sills, next to the stockings or you can even use them to create a beautiful centerpiece for your table. There are many ways you can use seashells for holiday decorations when you use your imagination.
